Verity by Colleen Hoover

 5/5 Stars

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, the husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night her family was forever altered.

This book had me gripped from page one, I have never read a book like this before and I finally understand why people like Colleen Hoover so much, because wtf was that first page. I listened to this on audiobook and sat listening to it until the end, I just couldn't stop until I knew how it ended. While Lowen was a boring main character Jeremy and Verity and their dynamics were so good, reading the manuscript and finding out how Verity actually acted was such a good plot point and I didn't want the chapters to end. The ending was both expected an unexpected at the same time as while I knew that Verity was going to get what was coming to her I had no idea how it was going to happen and I loved it.

So are you team Manuscript or team letter? I'm team manuscript.
